Несуществующий космолет NASA возвращается на Землю спустя 21 год

Космический спутник NASA, который наблюдал за солнечными вспышками и помог физикам понять мощные выбросы солнечной энергии, упал на Землю на этой неделе, почти через 21 год после его запуска.
Вышедший на пенсию космический аппарат Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (RHESSI), который запустили в начале нулевых и выведенный из эксплуатации в 2018 г., снова влетел в земную атмосферу в среду примерно в в 8 вечера, по данным НАСА.
По данным Министерства обороны США, космический корабль 300 кг вновь возник в атмосфере над Сахарой на координатах 26 д и 21.3 ш.
НАСА ожидало, что большая часть космического корабля сгорит во время прохождения через атмосферу, но определенные детали смогли устоять в атмосфере.
«В настоящее время НАСА не не имеет информации о каком-либо ущербе или вреде, связанном с повторным входом в атмосферу», — говорится в заявлении агентства.
Космический увеличитель Webb запечатлел вспышку звездообразования во время столкновения галактик.
Космолет был оборудован спектрометром, регистрировавшим рентгеновское и гамма-излучение Солнца. По версии NASA, со своего бывшего места на на близ земной орбите спутник сделал снимки высокоэнергетических электронов, несущие много энергии, высвобождаемых солнечными вспышками.
Эти солнечные явления высвобождают энергию, эквивалентную миллиардам мегатонн в тротиловом эквиваленте, в атмосферу Солнца всего за несколько минут и вполне могут угрожать Земле, захватывая перебои в работе электросистем.
За прошедшие годы RHESSI задокументировал огромный размах вспышек на Солнце, от мелких микровспышек до массивных супервспышек, которые были в десятки тысяч раз больше и взрывоопаснее.
